FSK Media Center Policies:

FSK media center operates within a flexible schedule – we are open during the entire school day and 45 minutes before and after school is in session.

Before school convenes, students may use the center as a place to come together and relax, talk with friends, listen to music or complete homework.

During the school day students may ask teacher permission and receive a pass to come to the media center time to access the computers and research resources to complete projects, select reading materials, etc. We host a number of whole classes daily by offering access to computers and printers and well as research instruction and guidance.

We provide an atmosphere of focused study but certainly allow and encourage students to collaborate on assignments. We do not allow food and drink in the center. There is no rough housing or disruptive behavior.

Sign in
To monitor use of the center and maintain a record of how our center is being used, we require individual students coming into the center to sign in upon their arrival as well as present a pass for entry. Students must also sign out if they have to leave the center during their indicated time.

Check out
Print materials are due 3 weeks after checkout date, the exception is reference books which are due 24 hours after check out. There is no limit on number of items students may check out. Students may check out back issue of periodicals.

Fines
FSK media center charges 10 cents per day for overdue items and 25 cents per day for overdue reference books.

Computer Use
Students may use computers for their school and academic needs. We provide access to subscription database as well as the Internet. There are14 computers for drop in student use on the main reading room floor. Large classes use the computer lab which teachers sign up for in advance.

Printers
Students may print for their research and academic needs from the computer designated in the area where they are working,  A color printer accessible to students for projects upon teacher or media specialist approval only.
