Guidance Happenings

The Guidance Office welcomes Mrs. Cheung who will be here while Mrs. Ndaka is out on leave.  Mrs. Cheung will work with students with the last names of O-R and T-V.      

Seniors interested in taking the SAT test on October 4, 2008 must register by September 9, 2008.  Registration for the November 1 test is September 26. Remember that North Carroll High School Code is 210599.

Juniors should remember to sign up for the PSAT test to be given on October 15, 2008 during the school day.  You may register in the cafeteria during lunch hours the weeks of September 8-19.  Registration will be available in the Guidance office the week of September 22.  Cost for Juniors is $15.  Checks can be made out to NCHS.   

All Sophomores will take the PSAT test on October15.  You will automatically be registered.

The Carroll County Career and Technology Center will hold an open house on October 16, 2008 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m.

Carroll County Continuing Education Fair will be held on Monday October 6, 2008 from 6:30-8:30 at Westminster High School.  Juniors and Seniors interested in going to college should attend and visit the over 130 universities, colleges and trade schools in attendance. 

The ASVAB test will be given at NCHS on November 13.  This is the military aptitude test but anyone can take it.  If you are interested in additional information on your aptitude skills, sign up in Guidance or see Mr. Shrader to take the test. 

 Any student-athlete, who is in 12th grade, works hard, is dedicated, and a role model for North Carroll students can register for consideration for the Wendy’s High School Heisman Award.  To be eligible, a student must have a 3.0 GPA, participate in one of 32 sports listed and be involved in the community.  To complete the online application, go to www.wendysheisman.com.  You must submit a reviewer’s name and email at North Carroll.  North Carroll’s reviewer is Ms. Cunningham at mscunni@k12.carr.org.    One male and one female athlete will be chosen from each school and will go on to compete in the state competition.  Completed applications are due by October 1st.  The first 41,000 students will receive Wendy’s gift cards in amounts ranging from $5 to $50.
